Scope of service

To deliver Security Control Cabinets to first floor level in a trackside building at a Network Rail site.

2

Our solution

The work required here was straightforward enough in itself but for obvious reasons, working trackside is a demanding environment in terms of the stringent Health and Safety requirements that have to be addressed.

The obvious starting point was to undertake a Site Survey and prepare a Method Statement and Risk Assessment, all of which had to be approved by the Network Rail site manager. Thereafter, it was case of providing proof of suitable and valid insurance, maintenance and inspection certificates for the vehicle and all handling equipment to be used on site. Additionally, evidence was required that staff were suitably trained in Manual Handling and also qualified to use the Electric Stairclimber equipment that was required for this work.

A further and final requirement was that to be granted access onto the site staff had to be accredited under the Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) and be in possession of a valid CSCS Card.
